Prolonged QT
Key Characteristics
•Qtc >440 ms in men >460 ms in women
•More than half the RR interval
​•Time for ventricular depol and repolarization
•Shorter with tachycardia
•Longer with bradycardia
•Risk for ventricular arrhythmias/Torsades

  • Drug induced
  • Antihistamines
    • Organophosphates
    • TCAs
    • Phenothiazines
    • Antidyrhythmics
  • Electrolyte Abnormalities 
    • hypoK
    • hypoMag
    • hypoCa
  • Severe Bradycardia/AV Block
  • Hypothyroid
  • CVA (intraparenchymal)
  • Elevated intracranial pressure and Intracranial hemorrhage
  • MI
Treatment
•Monitored Bed
•Electrolytes, search for other sources
•Cardiology Consult-> Pacer/ICD
